2015 Run To The Rose Final Field and Barrier Draw

August 26th, 2015

A talented field of only seven has been confirmed for Saturday’s featured 2015 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting three-year-olds.

Press Statement was a standout performer for Chris Waller through a short but impressive debut preparation and has been confirmed for a racing return in the 2015 Run To The Rose.

Debuting for a comfortably one and a half length win in a Canterbury minor over 1100m on April 29th, Press Statement charged home to win the TAB Place Multi Plate (1350m) on May 30th before comfortably winning the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at Doomben on June 6th.

Charged with carrying a race-high 60kgs, Press Statement has been confirmed to be partnered by last start hoop Tye Angland in the Run To The Rose but will also have to overcome the outside barrier.

Waller is a great chance of saddling a quinella in the 2015 Run To The Rose after also confirming Japonisme in the final field.

Finishing outside the first three only once in seven career starts, Japonisme was kept to minor Sydney sprints through his debut preparation in autumn but has more than stamped himself as a leading black type performer this time.

Winning each of his first three starts upon resuming this season, the Choisir gelding faced a monumental task in making a successful transition to black type racing when drawn alongside the likes of Vancouver in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) a fortnight ago but produced a huge turn of foot to comfortably win the race.

Godolphin Australia is also set to launch a two-pronged attack on the 2015 Run To The Rose after trainer John O’Shea confirmed both Exosphere and Holler in the final field.

Exosphere failed to beat a runner home on debut at Rosehill last November, but stamped his claims as one to watch when returning this year for success in both the Valentines Day Maiden Plate (1000m) and Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m).

While unable to figure in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) last time out on March 21st, the Lonhro colt has taken well to his time away from racing and will leave from barrier 5.

Holler is yet to contest a black type race, but has trialled well in the lead-up to his competitive return and should receive a gun ride from in-form hoop Christian Reith.

Winning a talent-rich Randwick minor over 1100m on debut in January, Holler has not been seen at the races since finishing third in the Australian Jewellery Liquidators Plate (1100m) on June 6th.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Raphael’s Cat has drawn barrier 4 for the 2015 Run To The Rose, while Redzel (barrier 3) and Mr Optimistic (barrier 2) complete the final field.
