Menari has returned to racing in smart form this time and remains a clear $2.30 favourite in 2017 Run To The Rose betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Pariah ($3.70), Kementari ($4.60) and Siege Of Quebec ($9.50).

Will Menari justify favouritism and win the 2017 Run To The Rose, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

Pariah ($3.70)

Pariah is arguably the class horse of the Run To The Rose field and should prove extremely difficult to beat under the conditions of the race. Winner of the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) on debut in January, Pariah finished second in both the Group 3 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1100m) and Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), but had clearly had enough by the time he finished eleventh in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m). Having trialled extremely well in the lead-up to his Spring Carnival campaign, the Redoute’s Choice colt stormed home to comfortably win the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1100m) first-up this time and will only improve from that run.

Siege Of Quebec ($9.50)

Untapped colt Siege Of Quebec has only made three appearances at the races so far, however he has shown plenty of class and ability and is over the Run To The Rose odds at his current quote. A smart winner of his first two starts, the Fastnet Rock colt was unlucky to be beaten on the line by Menari in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) last time out. Drawn ideally in barrier 5, Siege Of Quebec should be able to easily find a position on the pace and will be tough to run down in the dying stages of the Run To The Rose.

Menari ($2.30)

Menari has posted a number of impressive results throughout his short career and should be right in the finish of the Run To The Rose on class alone. The Snitzel colt was a standout for Gerald Ryan in autumn; running second in the Canonbury Stakes and was third past the post in the Golden Slipper, but was relegated to fourth in protest. The horse was outstanding in The Rosebud first-up and should only improve into this race.
